December’s Post Themes

November posts were an easy way to get back into a blogging routine.  “Giving Thanks” is an easy topic to think about every day for a month, and a good exercise to go through leading up to Thanksgiving.  I like blogging like that, so I’ve been thinking about what December posts should be about.  I’ve got an idea.

For the first part of December, starting on the 1st and going no further than Christmas, I’m going to post about Christmas traditions.  I welcome anyone who has a blog to do the same with me.  You can share your tradition stories with me if you don’t have a blog to share them on, and I may post about them on here.  Traditions are big with our family, and we have created some great ones that we all look forward to and remember year-to-year.  I’m sure others have great ideas, too, and it never hurts to get ideas of for starting new traditions.

Somewhere around the middle of the month, or after I take a break for Christmas, I will transition to New Year’s resolution ideas.  These won’t necessarily be stories of what I regret and want to change over the past year, but will be about successes I’ve had that others can try, and ideas I have about doing things in a more awesome way for next year.  That’s the intention, anyway, since I have a few posts of these categories already in my head.

Sneak peek – I’m thinking about doing a “theme” for each upcoming holiday or event for a while, so Valentines Day may be the next one in January.  I’d love ideas for that, if anyone wants to share them.  More on that later.

For all these, guest posts are welcome – just let me know if you are interested.  I have tens of readers you can reach with your wisdom!  :)

So, I’ll be back on December 1 with the next blog post.  Feel free to email me (or use my contact form on this blog) between now and then about the ideas above.

Happy Thanksgiving!

I hope everyone is enjoying the holiday. It’s almost nap-time here :)

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!

Thankful for Thanksgiving

I’m really enjoying sitting around with nothing to do but wait for a big meal. It’s awesome. The kids are loving time with my Mom. Mom’s black-out curtains trick everyone into sleeping in. I don’t know why, but this holiday weekend is really relaxing. I’ve been excited for it coming, and it hasn’t disappointed. I’m thankful for this opportunity with family, and for everything tomorrow promises.

Thankful for Family

All the prep is done, and we’re ready to start spending time with family for the coming week. I’m thankful we live near enough for that to be possible, and that I have family to share Thanksgiving with. I’m excited to see everyone and to just sit around telling stories with full bellies.

Ready for Thanksgiving

Today, I am thankful that I have finished all my homework and can enjoy Thanksgiving! I actually started on this paper days ago (VERY out of character for me), and finished in time to relax and go to bed at a normal hour tonight! Nothing but reading for me until after Thanksgiving! I am very thankful for a stress-free holiday with my family!

Thankful for this Assignment

I’m thankful for this assignment being in such an interesting place. Not that I didn’t like the desert of FT Irwin or my vacations to the deserts of Iraq and Saudi Arabia. I just think seeing the leaves in Virginia and experiencing four seasons is a more fun way to spend time with my family. Being so near the capital also presents a lot of awesome opportunities for family day-trips. Today, for example, we saw George Washington’s home and tomb. Most of those pictures are still on Tanya’s camera, but I got a couple of pictures with my phone while I was maneuvering the stroller. It was a really great day. I’m thankful we get to spend at least a year of our life in this cool place.

Thankful for my grades!

I’m still waiting for one more grade to be input (which I expect to be an A).  So far, though, I’ve got two As, an A-, and a B+ this past quarter.  I didn’t know what I’d get in my government class – a B+ is very good to see!

Thankful for one car

I’m thankful we decided not to buy another car when we got here.  I rode the train once a week last quarter, and this quarter have been able to set my classes up to allow me to take the van when Tanya doesn’t need it.  We have been successful in coordinating all our activities so one vehicle is plenty to get us around, and saved a few thousand dollars in the process.  Tanya told me she’d appreciate my sacrifice if I didn’t get a car, but it honestly hasn’t been a sacrifice for me.  I’m much happier being closer to debt free than I would be with another car in the drive way, and I’m thankful we’ve been able to keep on that plan while we’ve been here.

Nice, relaxing day

Today I’m thankful for a clean house, happy kids, plans for the future, and fresh baked bread.  It was a great day.

Thankful for my Marriage

I am very thankful that my relationship with Tanya has grown exponentially over the years.  We continue to grow closer to each other individually and improve our lives together as a couple.  We are so much more today than we were when we started, and I am constantly thankful she is in my life.  We both pull each other forward, neither holding the other back.  We support each other through the struggles we face each day, and, more importantly, we celebrate the good times together.  I love you, Tanya!
